La Trobe University chooses Anaplan for Academic Workforce planning
With campuses across Melbourne, Sydney, and regional Victoria, La Trobe University consistently rates among the world’s best universities. Ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide, La Trobe is firmly positioned in the top 400 of all three major world university rankings – recognising its innovations in teaching and learning, strong graduate employment outcomes, and world-class research.
La Trobe has undergone significant organisational change over recent years and, as a result, some of its original operating applications could not keep pace with its growing requirements. Legacy and outdated planning functions, systems and manual spreadsheet-based processes meant La Trobe was operating in an inefficient and siloed way.
La Trobe engaged Anaplan to support the creation of an Academic Workforce Planning (AWP) solution. The partnership will boost La Trobe’s Connected Planning capabilities to ensure that all student courses are adequately staffed by academics, to manage student-to-teacher ratios, and to ensure that academics’ time is appropriately allocated between research and teaching activities.
Stuart Hildyard, Chief Information Officer at La Trobe University said:
“We selected Anaplan because of its ability to provide us with a next-level solution for the university’s future planning needs. We were very impressed by the flexibility, ease of use, and capability of Anaplan and believe that it will provide us with greater visibility into our business. Anaplan will allow us to make critical decisions much faster, and with greater confidence of accuracy.”
“This is only the beginning for our partnership with Anaplan as we look to continue expanding our integrated planning for La Trobe with student load planning, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and long-range business planning inclusive of strategic workforce planning envisaged post this initial use case.”
Data sovereignty and security is also a top priority for the university. La Trobe selected Anaplan because of its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). With Anaplan hosted on AWS Sydney Region, La Trobe can easily comply with local and industry-specific data residency requirements.
“Supporting the innovative goals of a world leading institution like La Trobe is an honour; we look forward to working with the university to boost their academic workforce planning to create a seamless, connected experience for both staff and students,” said Andy Thiss, Area Vice President, Australia & New Zealand, Anaplan.
